This site is primarily for the Anti-Cancer Belly Dancers team ("ACBD") that was formed in South Florida for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

There is a group on Facebook which is not just for our team, but for anyone with similar interests.

About "Shimmy for a Cause" 2016

WHEN: March 13, 4:00pm
WHERE: World and Eye Arts Center, 109 NW 5th St. in Ft. Lauderdale.
WHY: "Shimmy for a Cause" is our major fundraiser, to benefit the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life of Deerfield Beach and Lighthouse Point.

Some history:

ACBD formed in 2010 for the Relay for Life of Downtown Delray Beach, FL. We participated in that Relay again in 2011.
In 2011 we decided to host a show, "Shimmy for a Cause," as our major fundraiser. It was successful, raising over $1200 for the cause. We have some pictures from our 2011 show. We also have some additional old 2011 show info.
In 2012 we switched over to Relay for Life of Deerfield Beach and Lighthouse Point, and we again presented "Shimmy for a Cause" as our major fundraiser and raised about $850 for the cause. Here are some pictures and videos from our 2012 show, along with old 2012 show info.
In 2013 we did "Shimmy for a Cause" again, with results similar to the previous year. Here is the old 2013 show info with links to photos, etc.
In 2014 we did it again, improving our results to over $1200. You can check out the old 2014 show info.
