The "Shimmy for a Cause" show is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, to be held March 13, 2016 at 4:00pm.
More detailed info below (with newer info toward the top):
I just wanted to provide some additional info about SfaC that might be of interest. First is some details about our venue, since it's new:
World and Eye Center (109 NW 5th St., Ft. Lauderdale) is an intimate little space.
Stage: World and Eye has a decent stage with real theater lighting. It's 20 feet across, 10 feet deep, and slightly raised (1 easy step up from the floor). Linoleum surface, if I recall correctly. The background is a white wall. The only entrance is through the aisle in the center of the audience.
Dressing area: Space is very limited. There is only 1 bathroom. There is an office with a door that we should be able to use as a dressing area, but space is limited. You should have a coverup so you don't have to hang around in the dressing area.
About the basic show structure... this is pretty much the same as previous years, but some of you have not performed for us before...
And as always, let me know if you have any questions! Don't forget to spread the word! (You can download the printable flyer to share.)
Thanks again for your support!
Performer info Feb 10, 2016 (intro)
Hi! Thank you for generously donating your services as a performer for Shimmy for a Cause! As I believe you all know, this event is a fundraiser for Relay for Life, which is the primary fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, which is a 501(c)(3) organization, so all donations are tax-deductible.
The show is Sunday, March 13, at 4pm. This show will be similar to those we've had in previous years. We do have a new venue this year-- we'll be at World and Eye Arts Center. in Ft. Laudedale. Their address is 109 NW 5th St., which is in the FATVillage arts district.
Another new thing is that, in the hopes of attracting more audience, I will be offering a couple of different ticket discounts this year, one for performers and one for regular audience members. More about them elsewhere.
We have a facebook group called "Shimmy for a Cause (presented by ACBD)" at https://www.facebook.com/groups/SfaC.ACBD/ to help share info. Please connect to this group if you're on Facebook.
So, right now I just want to mention a couple more things:
Please send this info in asap.
Let me (Sherezzah at firstname.lastname@example.org) know if you have any questions.
If you're on Facebook, please remember to connect to the Anti-Cancer Belly Dancers group, and invite all your friends to the "Shimmy for a Cause" event!
