Florida Bird Photos: Waterfowl
(Ducks, Geese, Coots, Gallinules, Limpkins, Cranes, etc.)
Florida Bird Photos - Waterfowl
This is part of what is, more or less,
my Life List of Florida bird photos.
I've separated the birds into groups so the pages will
be easier to load.
This page is for what I'll call waterfowl.
This includes ducks and geese, of course.
I'll also include swans (if I ever see any in the wild)
since they're in the same taxonomic Family as ducks and geese.
(Anatidae).
Also on this page will be the rails (Rallidae family),
which includes gallinules and coots.
They're often sorted together with Anatidae as
"duck-like" birds.
And besides,
the word "gallinule" comes from a Latin word for "chicken",
and chickens are also fowl.
Since creating this page, I've learned that
in the same taxonomic Order (Gruiformes) as Rallidae are
limpkins (Aramidae) and cranes (Gruidae), so I'll include
them here as well.
(Anatidae is in the
Order Anseriformes, but apparently they're the only Family in it.)
If you want to see other kinds of birds, please go to my
bird list main page,
which has other birds/sub-lists.
I may also update this page as I get better photos, or additional variations.
